This month, our team travelled for the first time to South Africa for Worship Nights. Before leaving for this tour, we received some powerful prophetic words over this nation and our team gathered to pray for what God was about to do. Jeremy Riddle was part of the team for this tour, and for years has had a growing heart for South Africa. He shared his heart:
What is South Africa’s sound? What are they supposed to bring that ignites the rest of the body of Christ around the globe? It’s the beauty in diversity, it’s the beauty within each person that the world is waiting for—the beauty the world needs to step into the fullness of who they are, to step into the fullness of the picture that God created.
What began as a 50 hour day of flights, quickly turned into an unforgettable experience. Here’s our journey.
DAY 1-2 | Jet Lag Recovery + Prep
The first couple of days in South Africa were spent recovering from the inevitable jet lag and spending some time as a team preparing for Worship Nights.
DAY 3 | JOHANNESBURG
Johannesburg was a moving beginning to Worship Nights. The room was full of diversity and an overwhelming sense of belonging. We felt led to speak out against fear– standing in unity to declare our freedom. It was one of the nights that a group of students from our ministry school that were on a missions trip in South Africa were able to join with us and minister to the people. You can read one of the many testimonies of healing and transformation here.
DAY 4 | PRETORIA
Pretoria was the most unique place our team has held Worship Nights. Along with 7,000 people, we worshipped in the middle of a field under the open sky. There is a distinct, relentless hope God has placed within the people and nation of South Africa. We felt marked as we experienced more of the history God had been writing in this place.
DAY 5 | DURBAN
We gathered in Durban with 4,000 passionate hearts in worship. The way this community engaged with Gods presence was moving– bringing Him an offering of praise and giving Him their full attention. Hearts were reconnected with the Father and the truth of His goodness over our lives.
DAY 6-7 | CAPE TOWN
The night in Cape Town was filled with an undeniable sense of family. As one voice, we sang out with His confidence: “For we trust in our God, and through His unfailing love, we will not be shaken.”
DAY 8 | PORT ELIZABETH
Port Elizabeth was a stop on this Worship Nights tour that was added after the tour was announced. There is such a hunger in this city for more of God. During our worship time, the power kept going out without explanation. But as one community, we continued worshipping, even if just with our voices. The conviction in the hearts of people gathered was felt, heard and known. This city believes in the transforming power of Jesus and is committed to seeing it come to pass in their midst.
