Brandon Lake, the newest member of the Bethel Music Collective, co-wrote the song “This Is A Move” about miracles, signs, and wonders before he fully believed they were possible. This year, as he joined Bethel Music for the Victory Tour, he saw healings and miracles happen every night as the team traveled through the U.S. Brandon shares his story as he is discovering more of God.
Is there more?
I’ve been on a journey to find the answer to this question for the past year, and last month was the one year anniversary of when it all started.
It began when a great friend of mine was miraculously healed of a rare form of Multiple Sclerosis over the phone. Yes, I said it—over the phone! Micah had been suffering from this illness for four years—four miserable years—and yet he was radically healed in a moment. Even better than that, His testimony was shared in front of thousands of people that very evening, and many more were miraculously healed. (Insert praise break!)
When you experience something like that, you can’t help but let it change you. You start to wonder: “Is there more? Can I see God move like this every day?”
A few short months later, I’m driving to a songwriting session and I remember having very little to present to the other writers. Nervously, I began to scramble through my head of all the recent song ideas, melodies, and inspirations I could run with. Nothing. Then I did what I’ve now learned to start with, “God what do you want to say to me?” “What is it you’re trying to teach me in this season?”

I then heard as clear as day, “Wonders are still what you do.”
After taking a second to let that digest, I quickly realized this is exactly what He’s been trying to reveal to me. He’s STILL the God of miracles, signs, and wonders. Sitting in the parking lot, I started to write down as much as I could. Later, I would present this idea to my friends Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Tony Brown, and Nate Moore. By the grace of God, this small idea turned into a song for this season; the soundtrack to what I believe is a movement in my local church, and maybe, just maybe, some language to what I believe God is doing all around the world: THIS IS A MOVE!
Towards the end of last year, I was asked to join the Bethel Music Collective—which is a miracle in itself. My family has always felt like we carried the same spirit, only on the East Coast. This was a testimony that God’s timing is perfect because what was about to happen on this tour just weeks later would forever change me, and reinforce this lesson I’ve been learning about who God “still is.”
I’ll never forget the moment Jenn Johnson gave us the assignment for the Victory Tour. She stated that we’re not just there to sing our songs, but we are on an assignment from the Lord to go after healing. And that’s exactly what we experienced—healing after healing! Every. Single. Night. From knee pain, back pain, and chronic migraines to anxiety, depression and suicidal spirits.
Our stop in Tulsa, Oklahoma was one that I’ll never forget.
We saw God heal a young man who had been in a terrible auto accident. After getting 13 stitches where two bones near his knee cap had been fractured, the doctors put in a metal plate with four screws, covering the inside of his shin bone. As we prayed for him, the metal completely disappeared. Where his knee used to lock up and clink, it’s completely free. He can now feel his bone and muscle where there once was metal. His leg was healed, and his faith is restored more than ever.
You can’t go back when you experience healing like this. It marks you. It messes you up in the absolute best way.
Here is why I share this with you: I really believe Jesus’ words when He says,
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14:12-14)
While Jesus was on earth, He healed everyone who came to Him, raised the dead, cast out demons, and much more. In this scripture, Jesus is telling His disciples that after He is gone, they will do even greater things than they saw Jesus do.
I want to propose that when Jesus says, “they will do even greater things than these,” He is speaking to you.
I really believe YOU can do the “greater things” in Jesus’ name, and this isn’t even limited to healing! This concept is something I’ve forsaken to believe was possible for myself, until now. I’m convinced that when we take on our true identity as sons and daughters of God, courageously live by the Spirit, and feel the compassion of Jesus towards every person—we become a dangerous force to reckoned with. We begin to meet every sickness, disease, and demon with the reality that it has to bow at the name of Jesus; and we WILL see God do more than we ever thought was possible.
The gifts of the Spirit—healing, prophesy, faith, miracles, and more—aren’t just for the special or talented ones. They aren’t just for the preachers on stage or the person with the microphone. These are gifts that God has given all of us access to for the benefit of loving people!
Healing isn’t the only thing Jesus came to do, it was something that He did to love people and point them to the Father. We have been entrusted with gifts of the Spirit to better love the world around us.
One of the most beautiful lessons I’m learning is just how outside of our boxes God really moves. He has healed people during our songs, backstage, over the phone, over Livestream, and in ways I’m sure I don’t even know about. If you pray for someone or receive prayer, and healing doesn’t happen this first time, pray again! The size of your faith won’t grant or deny you of healing. Jesus said if we have faith like a grain of mustard seed, nothing will be impossible for us. (Matthew 17:20)
God is moved by the purity and persistence of our faith, not the size.
I want to be bold by believing some of you will even be healed as you read this post. It’s been my prayer before I typed one word. So, if you’re in need of a miracle I want you to pray this out loud over yourself now.
“Dear Jesus, I thank you that Your Word says you forgive all my sin and heal all my infirmity. Thank you for giving Yourself on the cross to make that possible. At this moment I receive your Word as truth over my body, mind, and emotions. I receive complete healing for myself because You paid the highest price for me. Where I have believed a lie, replace it now with Your truth. Where I am unable to understand, help me to fully trust you. Be glorified in my life and my testimony! I loved, I am healed, I am made whole. Thank you, Jesus!”
Speak it until you see it. Declare healing over yourself daily through the Word of God. I sang “Wonders are still what you do,” before I ever fully believed it. Prophesy God’s promises into your life until they become your reality.
