Fearless in Faith

This is the third post in the blog series “Born for Glory out of Dust.” In this post, Aly Whitworth shares on taking risks and trusting God.

There comes a time in your relationship with God where He begins inviting you to take more risks. They are moments of faith that require you to fully trust Him with the possibility of losing something. I am learning that God’s plans and purposes are bigger than the risk at hand; as we step into risk and lay down our fears, He faithfully steps in to carry us.

God asked Abraham to sacrifice his fulfilled promise, his son. I have to remind myself that Abraham wasn’t a robot, he didn’t just follow orders with no emotion attached. I’ve pictured this massive wrestle in his heart, Abraham waited for his son for years. His heart had to be filled with so much love and joy for his son. God asked him to kill his son of promise. Every part of his being must have been fighting against obeying God in his command to sacrifice his long-awaited child. Yet, through the noise of doubt, he chose to trust Him. God saw Abraham’s heart in this moment; he was ready to give back what God promised him because he had faith in God (Genesis 22). I believe this was a massive moment in the spirit, where Abraham became fearless in his faith, trusting anything that God asked him to do.

In this life, we will encounter moments with God when He asks us to risk everything. Requiring you to trust, surrender, and let go on a level greater than you have experienced. One thing is sure, God will meet you like he met Abraham. He is relentlessly faithful and honors every risk we take out of obedience to Him. On the other side, we become closer to God than we could have ever imagined.

“When I get really afraid, I come to you in trust. I’m proud to praise God; Fearless now, I trust in God. What can mere mortals do?” Psalm 56:3-4

Take a moment in His presence; invite His unfailing peace into the room. Now talk to Jesus about your fears and doubts, then give them to Him. Trust that He is good; trust that no matter the cost, He is faithful to carry you. Then, ask Him to make you fearless in faith.
